Bryan Stirewalt

Bryan Stirewalt has 40 years of experience in financial services across the public and private sectors including 30 years of international experience in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Bryan’s expertise crosses several fields in the banking and financial services industry, including thought leadership in several future of finance topics.

Bryan is an Executive Advisor to Grant Thornton, providing senior-level advice on financial sector and regulatory matters and is an independent board member of the Astana Financial Services Authority, the regulator of the Astana International Financial Center. Bryan is Chairman of the Board of Julius Baer Middle East (DIFC) and heads the Risk and Compliance Committee of Vision Bank Limited (ADGM). Bryan also serves as an independent non-executive board member to several other financial institutions in the UAE. Bryan works closely with the MENA Fintech Association and the Middle East Stablecoin Association.

Prior to his current roles, Bryan spent more than 14 years at the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), including as its Chief Executive. Bryan served as the co-chair of the Basel Consultative Group for 10 years, representing non-member countries at the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. Bryan started his career at the U.S. Treasury’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as a National Bank Examiner specializing in policy development and implementation, problem bank rehabilitation, and banking fraud initiatives.
